One program, an experiment inspired by MK-ULTRA, was run by the Office of Technical Services, & monitored by doctors. The other was run by CIA's Counterterrorism Center & it was deadly.
I’ve been saying for years that the USA needs to join the ICC as we clearly can’t follow US or international laws, and we can’t seem to actually hold people responsible for breaking the law. Crimes against humanity are the most outrageous crimes and we should never turn a blind eye.
Yes. According to the 2013 report, "Globalizing Torture: CIA Secret Detention and Extraordinary Rendition" by the Open Society Justice Initiative, at least a half-dozen Afghan prisoners were initially arrested in Iran and then deported to U.S. forces in Afghanistan. See report pages 31, 36, 38, 41, 51, 58.
I recall Iran's cooperation with the U.S. in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 was something reported in the newspapers. See, for instance, this 2010 article on Guantanamo prisoner, Hussein Almerfedi, written by Andy Worthington in Eurasia Review. One could say that sometimes politics definitely makes for strange bedfellows!
